A generous family, in gratitude for the many blessings they have received, has offered a Matching Gift opportunity!​​

The family told us, “Our three children all went to Camp Perkins every year. Despite being in their 50’s now, they all have fond memories of Camp Perkins and often remark how it strengthened their Christian faith at an important time in their lives.”

Camp Perkins is a place where people connect deeply with each other and connect deeply with the Lord. Camp Perkins is a place where campers find peace and hope.

You have an amazing opportunity to double your giving and help more children strengthen their faith in Christ! This is a 1:1 match, which means for every dollar you give, the donors will match it with a dollar of their own, up to $50,000.

We need your help with three major financial concerns that affect ministering to campers throughout all seasons.  Here is a summary of the financial needs right now:

Vehicles: You might remember from our letter earlier this year that we are replacing the snow coach (van on snow treads) with a multi-purpose vehicle.

• We found a 15-passenger van for a good price, seats for the van which were recently delivered, and a set of Mattracks (snow treads). During the winter, the van will be equipped with Mattracks for use over the snow, and during the rest of the year, it will run on regular tires for transportation needs like taking campers to horseback or rafting activities. It’s the perfect solution!
• The total cost for the van, seats, and Mattracks was $75,000. We have already received $58,000 toward this project. But we still need your help to raise the additional $17,000.
• The second vehicle need is an all-wheel drive vehicle for Day Camp use. In June, before summer camp sessions get started, we send groups of two to four counselors out to different communities where they partner with churches and lead Day Camp (like Vacation Bible School). These teams travel from city to city leading the Day Camp events before they are needed back at camp. To transport the Day Camp teams safely, and for other camp uses during the rest of the year, we need an all-wheel drive vehicle. The estimated cost in the used car market today is about $23,000. That brings the total funds needed for vehicles to $40,000.

Camperships: The financial burdens on families today, with inflation increasing costs from gasoline to groceries, means it’s more challenging to pay for summer camp. Even though we do everything we can to keep camp affordable, there are many families who cannot cover the entire cost. Right now we need $30,000 to cover the expected needs for summer camperships.

• The For the Children Fund at Camp Perkins provides financial assistance to anyone who applies for help to send their child to camp. No child is ever turned away from camp for financial reasons. We never want lack of money to keep a child from experiencing a week of camp, where they can grow in God’s Word and learn more about the love of Christ.

Income Loss from Fire Closure: The third expense category is lost income from canceled rentals due to the Ross Fork Fire. Camp was evacuated and closed for about a month this fall. We had a fully booked schedule during that time. Some groups were able to reschedule for later when we opened, but several had to cancel. We are so grateful that God protected Camp Perkins during the fire! Camp looks beautiful and the buildings and grounds were not harmed.

• While the income loss does not compare to the gratitude we have that Camp Perkins was spared, camp is still facing the income loss. The estimated financial loss is about $30,000.

Ultimately, the purpose of ALL of these expenses is to support the mission of Camp Perkins – pointing people toward Christ, the giver of hope and peace.
