Summer 2021
Is Summer Camp 2021 even going to happen?
We recognize the future feels uncertain right now. You may be wondering, “Is this summer even going to happen at camp?” But we know how much kids and their families need the connection and encouragement of camp right now. We have a path forward and a plan to make camp happen even if the current situation remains largely the same for Summer 2021 - we just need you. We are planning for Summer Camp 2021! We can't wait to welcome your children back to summer camp!
How We’re Preparing for this Summer
Throughout its history, Camp Perkins has remained focused on providing incredible faith-filled experiences for kids of all ages and maintaining the highest standards for the safety and well being of every person who climbs the mountain pass to camp. And so, although we’re hopeful the pandemic landscape will be greatly improved by this upcoming summer, we’re preparing as if things will possibly remain largely unchanged.
Our plan for the summer emphasizes small groups of campers and avoiding activities and settings where different small groups mix together. For campers in their small groups, camp will happen largely as normal - we've always emphasized small group community, and this summer will be no different.
No matter what happens, camp is still going to be camp! You’re still going to get to form awesome relationships with other campers and our incredible summer staff. You’re still going to get to spend your time making amazing memories and having the most fun ever! And (most importantly) you’ll still get to experience the life-giving hope of Jesus Christ and be built up in your faith.
Camp leadership will monitor the situation and the local health regulations, preparing to adapt as needed.
Our Plan for this Summer
We know how much kids and their families need the connection and encouragement of camp right now. We have a path forward and a plan to make camp happen even if conditions for Summer 2021 are largely the same as they were for this past summer. (Although we're hopeful that things will improve!)
In light of the current pandemic and recognizing that it is impossible to completely predict how things will look months from now, we've chosen to prepare for the worst case scenario: that conditions for Summer 2021 are largely the same as they were for this past summer. We will continue to update you on the protocols we are developing and implementing.
Though we are taking precautions to keep campers and staff safe, we are not able to guarantee that a person on our site will not be exposed to COVID-19; thus participation in any camp program during the pandemic is a potential risk. Persons with known vulnerabilities or who live in a home with an immunosuppressed person should consult with their doctor(s) before deciding whether or not to participate in any summer camp program.

- Decreased Capacity - We're limiting our on-site camper capacity to 60% to give campers room to spread out in housing areas and shared spaces.
- Small Groups - Camper groups will be limited in size to a maximum of 8-10 campers per group. Cabin groups will remain separate throughout the camper week.
- Separate Cohorts for Community - Cohorts consisting of two cabin groups (maximum of 24 campers) will be pre-assigned and used throughout the week for any shared activities as required.
- Group Separation - Any large group activities will be restricted to outdoor activities where adequate separation between different groups can be maintained.
- Health Screenings - All campers will be asked to complete a pre-camp health screening process.
- Check-In - Camper check-in and pick-up will be as contactless as possible and completely outdoors.
- Face Coverings - Campers and staff will be asked to wear face coverings in any indoor locations shared by different groups.
- Enhanced Cleaning - Enhanced cleaning protocols will be used for shared spaces and commonly touched surfaces.
